On January 14, 2025 I had the opportunity to sit down and film an episode of
Conversations With Vin and witness the performance of The Defect at the Ottobar in
Baltimore, MD. During the conversation there was a moment where Moon, Jonny and I
were describing the music of The Defect and when I watch the episode I am quoted saying
“It makes me feel very good.” That's exactly the feeling I had at the completion of the
performance by The Defect. After sitting with the McBee's and filming the episode in the
relaxed setting we had and then being in the front 5 row area for the performance (even
made sure I was part of the first Baltimore Mosh Pit for The Defect, I mean I do work for
American Mosh Pits for crying out loud) I absolutely felt very good. The people that they
are how they carry themselves and how they love each other, that all comes to life when
these two perform together on stage with their drummer.

The episode of Conversations With Vin went extremely well. This was a big deal
for American Mosh Pits and myself because this was the first time we had an
EXCLUSIVE FIRST MEDIA INTERVIEW! That's right folks, The Defect has never
talked to a media outlet before us. From the original contact I made with The
Browning/The Defect camp to the day of the show they were nothing but professional. It was organized to go through the process of being approved for media access and an interview to scheduling times. I filmed two episodes that day (The Browning first and The Defect second) so Jonny was already seated when Moon arrived to join us and do the interview. When we went through the quick production meeting everyone was on the same page with how we wanted the final product to look. Moon, Jonny and myself really flowed during the conversation. Jonny and Moon being such a great connected couple just would pick up and put down for each other during the conversation and my questions were focused so the process just made a real fun filming.

The Defect held spot 1 on the bill. I did not have a lot of time between completion
of my interviews and my media duties and start time of The Defect's set. My girlfriend
Jamie and I positioned ourselves on the floor in the area of the first 5 rows. After having such a great moment with the McBees I was very excited for the start of the set! On stage Moon and Jonny flowed along just as perfectly as they did during my interview. You can tell the 3 piece band rehearses regularly and they were ready to show their craft off to the USA with this first tour. Song after song, from Lost In The Shadows, Dreamwalker, Defiance and more you felt one thing and Gloria Estefan and the Miami Sound Machine said it best . . . Rhythm Is Gonna Get You. The Defect makes you feel good and makes you want to dance and mosh and put your hands up and sing and be part of the
performance. Through the entire set until the second to the last song it was all dance pits
and then Jonny asked for it and the crowd responded, we gave The Defect their first
Baltimore Mosh Pit! When Moon and Jonny said “Thank You!” after the last song I felt I
was part of and witnessed a high quality performance.

The day after the show I found myself putting The Defect on Spotify in my car and listening to some of the tracks I heard the night before. I was still impressed with what they brought to the stage and found the sound had the ability to “make me feel very good”. If dancing and moving and interacting with the band on stage is your idea of a good time a The Defect show is for you. If you are into music that makes you feel very good The Defect sound is for you. If you are into musicians and performers that are high quality people The Defect is for you.
