Since the early days of the 80s when I was 6 to 8 years old the soundtrack of my life included Punk Rock Music. Back then I would watch the teenagers skateboard in the cul-de-sac of my neighborhood and their boombox would blast early 80s Trash Metal and Punk Rock and The Misfits, Ramones and Circle Jerks were in the rotation. I honestly fell in love with Punk Rock immediately and Walk Among Us was one of the first tapes I bought with my own money. Female lead punk bands have always gotten my attention. My father was a huge Joan Jett fan and we listened to her music often. There is just something special about a punked out chick screaming or talking punk lyrics with a typical punk style small unit band. Woman lead punk bands from The Distillers, The Interrupters, L7 to early pioneers such as The Go Gos and Joan Jett and The Blackhearts have always been in top rotation so it is no surprise we now have some new Queens of The Punk Scene to talk about. Ladies and gentlemen, let me review to you the Lambrini Girls.

Lets start with some history of the Lambrini Girls. They hit the scene in Brighton, England for their first show in May of 2019. With a name that was slang for “toilet wine for sluts” you knew from show 1 they were ready to make a musical point. In 2021 they released their first single 'Homewrecker.' Track release after track release every song makes a political or social justice point. In November of 2022 they sign with the label Big Scary Monsters. I found their first footage of an American performance from Kansas in July of 2024. Every show I watch footage of on social media or Youtube appears to be a sold out show.
A traditional Punk Band to a T, let me explain. There are elements that make up punk rock music. Lyrics are usually political or social justice themed with straight forward statements. From songs 'Help Me I'm Gay' to 'Cunty to Big Dick Energy' to 'God's Country' and more the Lambrini Girls nailed it. Punk bands are usually small in member count. The Lambrini Girls typically have 3 members. Punk shows have a lot of band interaction with the crowd. I have seen lead vocalists Phoebe Lunny in the mosh pit more than on stage in most footage I watched. Punk bands are known to be involved with social justice movements. I have seen the Lambrini Girls drop off festivals due to festival sponsors with political stances they did not agree with and I have seen them on the streets of England with protesters. Punk music is usually loud and in your face. Listen to any Lambrini Girls song and I am pretty sure you will agree with me on this point. Punk rockers have a certain fashion that has remained constant since the beginning of Punk in the 70s. The Lambrini Girls have so much punk style I am pretty sure they come out of mama's womb with piercings and band ts.
In closing the Lambrini Girls are a rising star in the current Punk Rock scene. They follow a list of female lead punk bands that did very well for themselves and engraved their names in the Punk Rock history book. They write and sing about topics they feel need to be heard and they share that message loud! They meet all the elements that make up a traditional punk rock band. For me, I am hoping to see this energy filled at 5/3/25 in Philadelphia at The Ukee and I would recommend checking that spring tour for a date near you. Punk Rock music is alive and well and the Lambrini Girls are one of the fantastic new bands carrying that flag.
