“A Rockin' New Year's Eve Dick Clark Would Be Proud Of”

On December 31, 1972 Dick Clark hosted the first Rockin' New Year's Eve from

Times Square with a vision to focus on American Rock. The first musical act to play this

historic show was Three Dog Night. I read about this American Rock on New Years Eve

theme by Mr. Clark in the fall of 2024 and with my position as the Public Relations and

Event Coordinator for American Mosh Pits I decided Dick was right and American Mosh

Pits needed to cover a Mosh Pit show for New Years Eve 2024. I have been in media over

a year now, it's time to pay homage to a legend in the media business and find a New Years

Eve Party to cover for Dick!

Multiple times in 2024 American Mosh Pits was informed of or asked to cover a

show at this awesome skate shop in Salisbury Maryland but the dates just never worked

out. In the fall lead editor Mark Frahn finally got a schedule match for Lurking Class

Skate Shop and his schedule and AMP was about to get the scouts report on the skate shop

that was creating a buzz on Delmarva and in Pennsylvania. I don't remember the show he

covered but the report was positive and the venue should be on our radar to cover a show

per Mr. Frahn. Fast forward the calendar a few weeks and our buddies Calloused of

Salisbury Maryland flash a show flyer for a New Years Eve show . . . at Lurking Class

Skate Shop! I couldn't get a text to George (lead singer of Calloused) fast enough when I

saw the post! George was stoked we wanted to cover a small show with unsigned bands

on a holiday we could be at venues that held thousands with bands known around the

world. George, I was stoked because I found a high energy show with mosh pit bands that

I knew two of them on the poster were damn good literally on the Delmarva peninsula

where I have lived all my life!

After a few meetings and calls all the details were set and on 12/31/24 around

300pm the car left my house to make the 45 minute drive to Lurking Class Skate Shop.

First off the owner was nothing but professional from approving our media access to

working with us on our ideas and his ideas when we got there and had our production

meeting. The skate shop is one of many businesses inside the first floor of a building on

Main Street in downtown Salisbury. It made it very accommodating for an all ages show

at the skate shop. There was rest rooms, a bar and grill with food and drink for all ages, a

record shop, modern design for nice background of pictures and plenty of space for merch

tables in the lobby. Lurking Class on the inside of their unit was clean and well put

together. The shop has a quarter pipe and movable merchandise displays to remove to

open up the general admission fan area in front of the stage. We shot some promo clips,

took some pictures, met the bands and did some crowd interviews and before you knew it

8pm was closing in and Bloody Finger was about to hit the stage and up this Rockin' New

Years Eve up!

Every band did an amazing job. I was familiar with the opener Bloody Finger and

enjoyed their set as much as when I saw them before. A very interesting thing they do is

all the band members will switch instruments every couple songs! That takes talent folks.

Up next was our friends Calloused. Man all I can say is go see Calloused now because

soon you will be paying $40 and up to see them on big stages. Solid hardcore band with

the right energy. Next on stage was a first for me Daybloom. Daybloom was more of a

rock band. It was nice to have a Mosh Pit break after the first two bangers! Daybloom had

a lot of energy and fan interaction and will probably do well in the rock scene. Up next to

close this thing was Comedic Assault from Delaware and they stole the show. I never seen

them before and man they starting playing that first song and this 90s teen said out loud

“Holy Crap! They are playing old school Punk Rock and they are nailing it!” Song after

song Comedic Assault put on a traditional style Punk Rock set with no modern twists. I

could have closed my eye and been at a Misfits or Social D show back in the day. The

crowd responded perfectly. Man the pits were even old school punk style pits! Get ready

people, Comedic Assault is about to do something and bring Punk back.
